Welcome to New England Books and Writers!

Welcome to New England Books and Writers! This site is to introduce you to Writers who are based in New England and books that take place here. New England has produced many writers throughout its history. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, a New England resident, is probably best known for writing about the ride of Paul Revere, another famous New Englander.

Before Longfellow, Benjamin Franklin wrote his newspaper pieces under the name of "Silence Dogood" while he was an apprentice in Boston. In the 20th and 21st centuries, Robert B. Parker created the characters of Spencer and Jesse Stone. Maine's Stephen King, arguably the most famous modern horror story writer, is known all over the world for his books and the blockbuster movies spawned from them.

There are many works of literature based in New England by people who don't claim it as home. Judy Blume's "Summer Sisters" is based in Martha's Vineyard. Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with Morrie" is about a teacher in Waltham, Massachusetts. There are well-know writers and book who don't live here, but their characters do.

These are the books and writers that many people already know about and read. The purpose of this site is to introduce you to books you may not have heard of and meet the writers who call New England home. It's a chance to help you pick your next fiction or non-fiction read that is set in the six-state region in the United States' northeast. If you know of a book or author based in New England, contact me here so I can let readers know about their next great read.
